Nearby villages include Zouch, Sutton Bonington, and Stanford on Soar. ==Description== The ancient parish of Normanton on Soar occupies 1,449 acres about 13 miles south-west of Nottingham. The post town for Normanton is Loughborough leading to the confusion of being in Nottinghamshire but with a Leicestershire post code. Normanton contains a primary school called Normanton-on-Soar Primary School. It also has a Grade I Listed church built between 1141 and 1147 and the Church of St. James. The volunteer staffed Village Shop is behind the Village Hall which was built in 2007. The pub is called "The Plough" and is beside the river.〔(Normanton-On-Soar Village Website ), retrieved 27 April 2014〕
